Julie Bert
Julie grew up in LaGrange, IL. She received her bachelor's degree in Physics from Princeton University in the spring of 2005. While at Princeton she was an active member of the club sailing team and Charter. After graduation she spent a year in Shanghai, China teaching English and Physics to students ranging from 5th to 11th grade. While in china she had the opportunity to practice seven star praying mantis kung fu and travel. Her travels have taken her all over China, Tibet, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. On separate trips she has visited Japan, France, Spain, Italy, Ireland, England, Scotland and Mexico. Julie is currently pursuing a doctorate in Physics at Stanford University. Her research interest is in mesoscopic magnetic systems and probes. In her spare time she enjoys cycling, dancing and spending as much time as she can with Greg.
Greg Prisament
Greg spent most of his childhood on a large estate in the town of Rosendale in upstate New York. Despite living on a 40 acre property with tennis courts, a basketball court, hiking trails, and a pond, Greg spent most of his childhood indoors playing Nintendo and mastering the Apple IIGS. After sixth grade his family moved to Dobbs Ferry, in Westchester County, NY, where he finished middle and high school. He then attended Princeton University where he studied Computer Science, but more importantly, met Julie.
During the summers he interned at Insomniac Games in Burbank, CA, which gave him the opportunity to acclimatize to California's perpetually sunny weather, bizarre guacamole-centric cuisine, and unremitting suburban sprawl. After graduating in 2005, he moved to Burbank to work at Insomniac full time. At Insomniac Games, he contributed to three games in the "Ratchet and Clank" series, and worked on the Playstation 3 title "Resistance: Fall of Man".
In order to be closer to Julie when she returned from China, and because his childhood dream of programming video games was not all that he hoped, Greg moved to Santa Clara, CA in the summer of 2006. He now works at NVIDIA, programming graphics drivers for their mobile products.
In his free time, Greg enjoys playing the guitar and keyboard, going on bike rides, and hanging out with Julie.
How They Met
Greg and Julie first met when they lived in the same entryway of Joline during their freshman year at Princeton. They became good friends, and were even briefly both majoring in Electrical Engineering. However, they didn't actually start dating for two more years. During their junior year, Greg asked Julie to Charter's winter formal. He did this by giving her a chocolate with the question "Julie, Formals?" written in the wrapper. He then followed up by sending her a Christmas present that arrived at her home on Christmas day. For her birthday in February, he made her a personalized rubick's cube with her photos on the squares. Their first date was on Valentines day 2004 when Greg took Julie out for Sushi and to see The Triplets of Bellevue, but their relationship first started a few days before during and evening of talking and hanging out in Julie's common room.
